Maddy, Sara, and Paulo presented on chapter three today.  Their SYNTHESIS paper, incorporating the novel, the art, and the class discussion, is due on Monday, May 29th.

  2. present a work of ART that is also on the same theme and explain the connections (15 marks)
  3. lead a class discussion with provocative questions on the theme (10 marks)
  4. write a SYNTHESIS PAPER on the theme using the novel, the art, and the class discussion as sources.  This paper is due the class after your presentation (50 marks).
  5. participate in class discussions to earn 5 marks per class (total of 50 marks).

Wednesday, May 17th

After the last King Lear presentation, we finished discussing chapter one and illustrating how to do passage analyses, incorporate art, and ask provocative questions.  At the end of class, the panels decided on topics and passages.

Thursday, May 11th

Your scene performances of King Lear are to be presented on Monday, May 15th.

Today, we started the introduction to Slaughter House Five.  Please read chapter one for next class.

Everyone signed up for a panel presentation date and chapter.  Please have your chapter read by May 17th so that your group can decide on a theme and choose your passages without any duplication.

We went over the scene performance for King Lear , and watched a couple of examples from past years.  You will be performing your scenes on Monday, May 15th.  You had the rest of today’s class to plan and prepare.

Next class, we will be doing the introduction to the last unit of the year on the novel Slaughter House Five.

Monday, May 1st

We worked through the rest of IV.vi. to V.i. today.  We will finish off the play on Wednesday, and then do some review for the test on King Lear scheduled for Friday, May 5th.  Next week, we will work on the scene.  For now, focus on reviewing the key passages of the play itself.
